The Ones

A Series by Case Parks

What if empathy was contagious?

The Volunteers

In 2018, Case Parks wrote and directed a short film about souls who volunteered to come to Earth. His daughters, looking down at our planet, have a telepathic conversation about the craziest thing they've ever done. One of them says she went to Earth. The film was seen by over eight million people across social media platforms and translated into twelve languages.

The Ones is the story of what these volunteers actually look like when they are living among us, raising kids, cleaning up dog poop, sitting with people who are dying. They don't wear capes. They're just people doing the best they can in every moment, quietly changing the world.

You don't notice it at first.

Ordinary people are starting to remember.

Not things they forgot. Things they've always known but spent a lifetime running from. Past lives. Ancient connections. The quiet certainty that the people around them are not strangers.

One man returns home to say goodbye to his dying mother. And it spreads from there. Quietly. Unstoppably.

Chance is not the source of what's happening. He is the first visible ripple. The blue beings did not create something new when they activated him in that desert circle twenty years ago. They unlocked something that was already there.

He is not the only one. There are others. They don't know it yet.

The blue beings showing up at Fenman's was not a side effect. They were there for Jorge.

Jorge brought a fake gun. The universe brought the real thing.

Jorge went into that gas station one person and came out another. Not because Chance changed him. Because Jorge was always going to remember. Chance just got there first.

That is intentional.

THE ONES is an eight-episode grounded sci-fi drama set in a small town in Ohio, where an outcast son returns home to say goodbye to his dying mother. His fundamentalist brother is already there waiting. And the family he brings with him has no idea what they've just walked into.

The story begins small. Then you start to notice things. Cameras glitch when Chance walks past. Light behaves differently around certain people. Memories surface. Not new ones. Ancient ones.

Everyone here thinks they're right. That's what makes it so dangerous.

His presence doesn't change people. He unlocks what's already there. Love becomes more loving. Fear becomes more fearful.

At first it feels isolated. Personal. It's not.

01
Fear vs. Love

Every scene is about this choice. Not in a heavy-handed way, but in the way real life is about making moment by moment choices, without ever announcing itself. Chance unlocks what's already present. Caring people open further. Fearful people harden.

02
Every Scene is a Reunion

No encounter between characters is truly a first meeting. Chance and Jorge have been finding each other for centuries. Kenny has been Chance's family before. Every scene is a homecoming. Some are ready to see it and some are not.

03
Memory as Liberation

Loneliness, fear, and judgment thrive because we've forgotten how connected we actually are. When someone truly remembers what it feels like to have lived another life, judgment collapses and compassion thrives. And the people around them start to change.

04
The Quiet Revolution

The world will not heal through a chosen One. It heals through the chosen Ones. Ordinary people across every race, culture and income level. The revolution quietly spreading like a feeling one person catches from another. You can't explain it. And you can't unfeel it.

Writer & Creator

In 2018, Case Parks wrote and directed a short film called The Volunteers to explain a shift in consciousness he experienced firsthand. In it, his daughters, looking down on Earth, have a telepathic conversation about the craziest thing they've ever done. One of them says she went to Earth. The film was seen by over eight million people across social media platforms and translated into twelve languages.

THE ONES is what happens when that idea grows up and walks into the real world.

The series was written to answer a single question that has no satisfying answer in the current television landscape: what would it look like if a show explored why certain people feel deeply connected to strangers, why some memories feel borrowed, and why forces we can't name sometimes feel more real than the ones we can?

THE ONES is that show.
